Play-In is delighted to present Re-Play, a comprehensive Recreational Therapy program for children in collaboration with RecConnection. This program integrates sensory integration techniques, methods and theories with Recreational Therapy to provide children with a program that both engages and motivates.
Well-suited for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, PDD or sensory integration dysfunction, Re-Play is a rec therapy program that uses the playground as a tool for therapeutic interventions. The program focuses on core strengthening, coordination, gross motor skills, fine motor skills, movement and gravitational insecurities, and sensory difficulties.
All activities are designed as ‘play with a purpose’ — the goal is to find the right group dynamics that will facilitate each child’s progress in social interactions and pragmatics.
Re-Play encourages inclusion, so there is a high possibility that there will be children both with and without disabilities in each session.
Even typical children without developmental difficulties can benefit from Re-Play. Our experienced, caring therapists assess each child during the first session, and determine goals specific to their individual needs. Regardless of their developmental level, children all can benefit from a customized program designed to improve socialization skills, strengthening, balance and motor skills.
From a social interaction perspective, children that are typical and generally good at everything will always profit from learning empathy, patience and leadership skills. The Re-Play program works on inclusion, so if your child is typical and doesn’t have sensory needs, then they will take on a leadership role and act as a role model. So while still partaking in the fun and activities, your child will have the opportunity to assit someone who may be having a more difficult time, which can be mutually gratifying.
